Art exhibit prep

Wow.

"The New Vision", Uganda’s leading daily newspaper, surprised me with a call this morning. They had seen one of my advertisement posters in town and asked for an interview today. As the exhibit doesn’t open until Monday, I asked if I could meet with them at the hotel then, where they could take pictures of the paintings. They said they would feature my work in the Art section this Friday’s paper. Wonderful. Another friend told me over the phone that she’d heard about my charity exhibit on the radio this morning. I have no idea how that happened, as it wasn’t on one of our radio stations. The word is getting out, and I’m just grateful to God for that. It’s a miracle since hardly went out at all this past week and haven’t done any advertising except to post flyers.

Yesterday someone commented, "You people have done the best job at advertising! Everywhere I go, I see your posters," she said. The ironic thing is, I’d only had 500 printed and about had posted about half of them. We did pray about the best places to post them, frequented by the most prominent people in the city. Those in my home helped me get them into town, some on their bicycles, and some at important functions. I’m grateful for all this support.

Another miracle: Two acquaintances have told me they would donate towards the framing costs–it’s was going to cost me the proverbial arm-and-half-a-leg! Another friend offered her driver to help me get to the FEDEX office in town to pick up the package of art papers. All 15 of them arrived in excellent condition.

Later:

The electricity shut off and everyone had no choice but to enjoy dinner by candlelight. Later a few of us built a bonfire in the yard, and we roasted marshmallows and passed the guitar. We chatted outside around the fire for a good hour, waiting for the electricity to come back on. We are all work-addicts, and the one thing good about losing electricity every other night is that is forces us to relax together, enjoying each other’s company in simple ways that we might otherwise never find the time for. Just before entering this blog, my phone rang again: The next biggest newspaper in town "The Monitor" has also jumped at the news of the exhibit. they also want to do an interview. The Sunday Magazine, another weekly paper insert is also interested. Another friend has also arranged a for a press release to go out. Is this cool or what?

I feel like God is moving things for me and I am just working through prayer. The physical effort is very small in comparison, but it sure is boosting my faith in the supernatural. I know that it is also due to the prayers of my family and friends all around the world, whom I’ve requested to pray for this event. It’s a dream come true and I’m so enjoying it!

Just before bed I watched Neverland (Jonny Depp, Dustin Hoffman, Kate Winslet). It was inspiring, reminding me of the fact that anything is possible if you believe. Lately, so many of my dreams have become realities, I think God is spoiling me.
