Visit to the Maracanã

The other day I decided to take my son to the Maracanã (the largest and one of the most famous football stadiums in the world) to watch the finals of the Campeonato Carioca (a regional soccer competition). Fluminense, one of the most well known teams in Rio, was playing against Volta Redonda for the trophy. We rooted for Volta Redonda (the underdog, in this case)…
but Fluminense won. After playing soccer on Sunday morning, I arrived at home and told my son Mike to get ready to go out. As we were walking into the stadium, Mike stopped to talk to a policeman who was standing just outside, who we then witnessed to for a bit.
Once we were already seated and the game had started, an old woman seated in front of us began to yell out cuss words and literally did not stop until the end of the game. As I didn’t want my son to be subject to such obscenities, we decided to sit elsewhere. Afterwards we had a hotdog and coke for a snack. Mike and his buddy, J., both had a great time as it was a first-time thing for both of them, but I also enjoyed it just as much.
