Activated contest

I got up early Monday morning, loaded my assorted instruments into the car (I play drums so we had to load up the drum set, sound system, microphones, amps, etc.) and was off to help organize an event for over 35 teenagers. The idea was to coordinate an Activated magazine subscription contest for Family teens all over Brazil. Today we were going to explain the details of the program and get them turned on to it.

I was there at 8:00 and after setting up my stuff and helping out our 4 other band members set up their things, (my brother is the guitarist and singer, I play drums and we have some friends who play bass, keyboard and help out on the vocal side) we prayed altogether, and began playing some motion and action songs, followed by heavier ones (typical teenage style) to dance and thrash to.

I spent the rest of the day helping organize workshops and chasing teens hither and thither about the property. As it turns out, most of the teens were very much excited about the new program and eagerly discussed it together and as a whole during the workshops, sharing stories with each other of their different experiences with Activated, etc.

At the end of the day we prayed together for each group of young people. The feeling I was left with when the day was done was that the Lord had come through miraculously in spite of small amount of time we’d had to plan and organize.

As I was leaving someone on the team suggested we go for a beer to celebrate, so we found ourselves again at Recreio Beach (a few minutes walk from my house) with the whole team of board and band members. We sat at the beach sipping beer and telling stories long into the night.
