The Light House Club

This week we resumed our activities at the Light House club after a few months hiatus. The idea of the club is to give our Family youth an opportunity to witness to other young people in what I would call a “witnessing friendly environment.” It’s a rented second-story room at a soccer club that has room for our band setup (I play drums) where we play music to a mob of bouncing teenagers (must be something to do with that punk rock beat so cherished by teens).
After about an hour of differed music styles (everything from the above punk rock, to gypsy and motion songs) our skit crew takes over with some meaningful entertainment. The majority of the actors on our skit team are teens themselves, with a weekly theatre workshop group where two of our more experienced actors practice with them a few times a week. At the end of the skit we pray with all the newcomers who want to to receive Jesus, and end with a tradition where all the newcomers sit in the middle of the stage, and everyone else joins in with singing them our welcome song. Last but not least we follow with snacks while the teens witness to our visitors on a more “personal” level.
This Club ministry has been going on for about a year now and has proven to be not only a great way to reach new people and witness, but also something our Family teens look forward to a lot. This week our attendance rate was a little low because we just started again, but things should pick up within the next few weeks!
