Looking for a midwife

Joni writes: So…I’m due to have our fifth baby in August. Since Vas and I have only just moved to this city, we’ve been on the lookout for where we would like to have the baby and what we feel comfortable with. The great thing is that one of the missionaries I work with here is a doula, and very skilled in midwifery and a proponent of completely natural childbirth—which I agree with and think is the best for me and my child. In spite of having her assistance, the problem is that in Mexico it’s very hard to find midwives who support or even promote natural childbirth (the cesarean rate is sky high here which I find very sad.)
This dear lady that I live and work with has been seeking out the few-and-far-between "natural delivery" midwives in Mexico, and thankfully she found one right here in our city! After praying about whether this was something the Lord had put in our path, and then receiving the Lord’s words in our minds that confirmed that He did want us to look into this option, we went to see her today. And what a nice lady she turned out to be! She speaks Spanish but also fluent English, has been delivering babies for a long time, and I felt very comfortable around her. We are excited about the possibility of having this baby at home with her.
