Schooling

Joni writes: Today I schooled my oldest children, since the other family we work with that have two daughters are on a trip. Usually the other mother and I work together and take turns home-schooling them during the week. Teaching the four of them together makes it fun and exciting for them and yet it is a small enough group to focus on each of them individually and personalize their tutoring. I love teaching my kids, just that personal time with them is so fun for me and it’s just a passion of mine.
I love to see how much these little minds can absorb and I love to see them finding their talents and working together to cultivate them. I have to say that raising children and doing your best for them and with them is one of the most fulfilling things in life. Well, today they are missing their friends and so we decided to have a fun break in the middle of school and enjoy a pancake snack together. That helped to liven things up and we enjoyed ourselves. We had a “neat writing focus” as they’ve been very into finishing their work fast recently. They do very well, Chad (5) is almost finished with First Grade and Rowen (7) has almost completed Second Grade. Still, in all of their efforts to get their school finished speedily they have started to become very messy writers (a pet-peeve of mine). So…a sticker on every neatly written page fixed that problem today. I’m going to see if this “sticker strategy” will work from now on and build this good writing habit.
