Full Moon - part 2

Vas Writes: Woke up late because of getting home late the night before and finally hitting the sack at 3:00 am. Missed our daily morning devotions but was able to get some reading of my own done before heading out with a team to some of the restaurants that we sing at. Our singing group sings and serenades people while they eat. Two of us play guitar and three to five girls dance and we all sing.
On this occasion some people dining in one of the restaurants took a keen interest in us and seemed very uplifted by our performance. Talking to them afterwards, they asked to study the Bible with us and one of the girls asked me over to get directions to our house. While talking with her I got a strong feeling that they needed to hear something that God had shown me years ago about perspectives on finances.
I awkwardly began to speak to the elderly lady at the head of the table who appeared to be quite wealthy and said the following: One time I was tempted to buy some stocks but I heard the voice of God tell me so clearly “would you put your faith in a foundation or a bank to provide a good interest rate instead of My interest rate?” And when I heard this it made me realize that I have been truly blessed and fortunate, able to do and experience many pleasures and things that most people would spend a lot of money to do and all because I was being a missionary. I would’ve never been able to do these things if I had to pay for them all. This showed me that God’s interest rate far surpassed any interest rate that a foundation or bank could offer.
When I finished, the lady began to tell me about dream she had the night before. She said she doesn’t normally tell anybody her dreams but this particular dream left a big impression on her. Itwas something about a crucifix being broken and it had caused her to have a heavy heart all day, but when she saw us and heard the words of our songs, she felt that it was God trying to tell her that her faith had been shattered. This was the reason she wanted to begin Bible study with us. She went on to say that she felt we could be a lot of help to the young people nowadays who are having so many problems with drugs and depression.
I told her it was funny she said that, because last night was our first practice session to start a band in hopes to begin a wave of rebellion against drugs and the darkness that the rock scene has inflicted on the youth of today. I jokingly turned to her son sitting next to her, and said “you wouldn’t happen to be an extremely good lead guitarist would you?” He replied that as a matter of fact, he was a music teacher and had been in a band, had a girl he was going to marry, but lost it all to drugs. He shared that he’d just gotten off of drugs by going through rehabilitation, but still felt so empty. He added that he was on his way to Cancun to see if by relaxing he could find some meaning to his life. He expressed that what he really wanted to do was help other young people not to make the same mistakes he had; he loved music and wished he could use it to help others in this way that would really bring meaning to his life.
I was overwhelmed by his story, and I don’t think I have to state what my reply was. Let’s just say that I can’t wait until next Wednesday night when hopefully I will show up with what could be God’s answer to Alberto’s prayers—an extremely good lead guitarist who has the same vision, but also because of the fact that Alberto had said: “ask Jesus to bring us this”. Hopefully it will build his faith in the miracle-working power of Jesus.
