Rotary exchange programme

We drove a long distance to have breakfast with some more of our relatives, but found when we arrived that their daughter had had an appendicitis attack the night before so they were all at the hospital. They were too polite to cancel the breakfast so they had some other relatives come to their house to cook for us and host us. Their hospitality amazed me.
For lunch my sister Asha and I went to a Rotary club student exchange meeting. My uncle hosts exchange students from other countries and has sent both his kids on exchange trips to Brazil. At the meeting there were teens from all over the world. Actually the event was somewhat of a goodbye party as nine of them were leaving. Each of them gave a presentation about there time in Malaysia; what they learned and how it changed them. It was interesting to see how much they adapted to a completely different culture. A few of them talked about how their experiences completely differed from their preconceived views, and some shared their mistakes and lessons learned. I found it quite wholesome and enjoyable.
(Deepa is on a brief hiatus from active missionary work. She is traveling to visit family in SE Asia and Canada before returning to India. Enjoy her travelog!)
