Farewells

Before leaving Kuala Lumpor some of us went out to do some last minute shopping for gifts for everyone back at home. Said our goodbyes to our family and relatives from KL, and by eight o’clock my uncle came to pick us up and take us to dinner and then the airport. Our flight was at 7:00 am (odd timing) but we decided to go to the airport the night before (well, midnight) where we sat together with some of the relatives, drank coffee and talked ’til about 3:00. The we hugged them all goodbye and they left to their homes.

They were such a wonderful family and made our time in Malaysia truly memorable! We’ll miss them. There wasn’t really any place to sleep so we stayed awake (lack of sleep tests your endurance). I don’t know what we did for so long, but finally we boarded the plane which was empty so I was able to stretch myself across three seats and grab a nap. (Oh sweet sleep!)

(Deepa is on a brief hiatus from active missionary work. She is traveling to visit family in SE Asia and Canada before returning to India. Enjoy her travelog!)
