JJT

I’ve spent the last few days without anything worthwhile to blog about as I go about my many missionary labors. In the process I got a little discouraged thinking I haven’t accomplished anything oh-so-great (this does occasionally happen to us). Well I’ve decided to blog about one small facet of my work that might not seem like anything great, but can be quite a challenge.
As I was cleaning one of the bathrooms, the thought came to me that probably a lot of Family missionaries all over the world are probably doing something similar daily. In the Family we have dubbed the humble task of cleaning the house “JJTs” (or Jesus Job Time). JJT is pretty much any kind of cleanup job in the home and usually everyone is “in charge” of keeping a certain part of the house neat and clean. My JJT is the upstairs bathroom. I will confess here that I’m not the most faithful one with my job, but I’ve been working on being more attentive toward it’s cleanliness and maintenance, which I believe will make the job easier in the long run.
But back to my moment of blogging inspiration… I was thinking back to my younger years, back when I figured my JJT days would soon be over and I would go on to great and glorious accomplishments in God’s service. Well, here I am, still at it! But I have now come to accept these little jobs as part of what I’ve been called by the Lord to do. An interesting thing about serving the Lord is that, one day you’ll find yourself on stage with thousands of eyes upon you, and the next day you’re humbly taking out the garbage or cleaning a bathroom. I know nothing is too big or too lowly in God’s eyes and He will reward us not by the importance of our jobs, but by our willingness to do what He asks of us, whether it be great or small.

God bless you for cleaning that bathroom with all you’ve got!
