More Mulago hospital progress

Another wonderful day at Mulago hospital. It’s nice to have this ongoing project. We were a small team of four today. A reporter from Uganda’s leading daily, The New Vision, came by to interview me about the project. Again, being able to share with others through a small voice and show them how even just one person or a few people can make some kind of difference has been a wonderful way for me to reach out.
The reporter told me that he wanted the focus of this article to portray that message—to say that we need to get art out of the galleries, and into the world to make it a better place. If we can get more people doing this kind of thing, it would be fantastic. I’ve also recently met with a young artist here in Uganda who is using her talent to help kids up North in the IDP Camps. There is so much you can do with whatever talents and gifts that God has given you.
The doctors from Heath Volunteers Overseas–who funded the materials for this hospital project–sort of passed me the baton and if I can just do this small thing and pass the baton to even more people, creating a ripple effect, that’ll be very satisfying.
It’s the second interview I’ve had this week. The first one was for kampalalive.com , the local “what’s happening in Kampala” site. They said they wanted to interview me for “Personality of the Week” and you can find it online now. It’s a scary feeling being in the spotlight like this. Scary, because I know God is holding me accountable to do what He’s put me on this earth for. Everyone has a destiny, right? And it’s the choices that determine the consequences, which in turn shape the future. I hope and pray that I can fulfill mine and accomplish what He wants me to.
