Dinner

Slept in a bit late but did get up early enough to spend some time reading the Word. We decided to cook a dinner for my Uncle and his Wife in appreciation for letting us use their camper. Spent some time at my brothers apartment figuring out the best way to make an Indian meal without many Indian ingredients. (remember I did bring some curry spices)…we did pretty good with what we had and managed a menu of; (for those of you familiar with Indian food) Ghee Rice, Tandoori Chicken, Mutter paneer, chicken curry, and roti’s (flat bread) .
The roti’s which I thought would be the easiest ended up not quite so simple. We got all-purpose flour and made dough, I think the dough would have been great for a pie crust or something but it didn’t work for rothi’s it had this great elastic quality that made rolling them almost impossible. We did manage to roll out a few but by the time everyone was got home for dinner they were cold. My sister put them in the microwave and out came flat crispies, I was disappointed but the dog liked them. Ahh not to forget I made ‘Paysam Kheer’ for desert, my little cousin brother loved it. Overall though we had a few hiccups dinner was a success.
(Deepa is on a brief hiatus from active missionary work. She is traveling to visit family in SE Asia and Canada before returning to India. Enjoy her travelog!)
