Vas writes: Every week we pick up produce and other food items from individual busineses who donate to our home. In exchange we spend some time with each of them, counseling spiritually or praying for them. One man named Leo was very desperate a couple weeks ago about his son who was having a drug problem. The authorities were going to make him send his son to a far away detention center so he asked if I could help in some way. I agreed and came back a few days later to meet this son.
After talking and taking some time to get to know him I was able to relate how I could understand the temptation that drugs can be—something that I myself had been tempted with. But when seeing drug users and there unhappiness with life, I draw the conclusion that drugs–though fun for the moment–end up ruining your life. I continued and said the thing that helps me to resist these addictions is the power of prayer from others and also personal prayer. I then asked him if he would mind if I prayed for him. He agreed and we prayed. Since then he has been showing up to work faithfully and seems to have left drugs behind. I didn’t really say anything that extreme so I know that it was the power of prayer that made the difference. Since then I’ve tried to spend some extra time with him lately. I ate with there whole family in there little shop and I think little things like this mean a lot to them (also the food was quite good I enjoyed our time a lot as well).
