A big skit day

Today was our weekly workshop with friends. It’ s also a monthly get-together for Mexico City, our neighboring city. Actually, we are a neighboring city of Mexico City. Anyway, my wife and I are members of the Conectate Band which is the band for the Latin American chapter of Activated and once a month we hold a Conectate meeting. Since we recently moved out of Mexico City to our present location we were not been able to join the Conectate band for last month’s meeting but it worked out for me to go this time.
My wife stayed as she is about to have a baby, but we sure missed her voice. The get-together was at 11 am which gave me time to attend this meeting as well as take a 2 hour bus ride back to where I live and be a part of the local workshop our home holds. Our local work is very important to me but I also enjoy and feel called to still be a part of the Mexico City work. I miss my friends and former students there and it was nice to see them.
We played music and did a skit during the workshop. I was Mr. Doubt and as you can see in the photo the taller guy—a friend of mine—was my boss: Satan himself. The skit we did was about how the devil and his little imps (I think that’s why they picked me ’cause I’m so much shorter then him) plant seeds of doubt that we are good for nothing and how it’s so hard to accomplish anything for God. Sometimes we listen to that and let it depress us and eventually we can become good for nothing by listening to this. But if we refuse to listen to the devil we definitely will defeat him and his attempts to make us useless to God.
It was a big skit day for me, first I dressed up like the devils’ right hand man Mr. Doubt, accompanied by Mrs. Doubt and the daughter, Miss Doubtlet. Then when we did our local workshop upon returning home, I dressed up like a modern day Good Samaritan with tattoos and a bandanna. We had a Christian, a Catholic Priest, a rough dude, and the Good Samaritan. For those who know the story you get the picture. Sometimes us Christians can get so caught up with being good that we forget to love our neighbor, which is what’s most important. This skit was cool in bringing out that point.
In the other picture you can see us singing some songs for this meeting. We are alternating the music weekly between Joni’s band and Joni and Kittie’s band and no band at all. So nobody gets bored. Kittie is great at leading these classes. I am learning so much from her since she’s arrived and also from her husband Fran. I am very thankful to have this opportunity to learn how to preach the Gospel in this way, as well as expand my Spanish vocabulary.
