Househunting

Joni writes: We’ve been outgrowing our home and have been “house-hunting” for a while now. The Lord showed us that He has a new house for us already prepared and He wants us to focus as much prayer power on finding it as possible. We’ve been trying to do that—I know I have!

Well, today we saw a house that we think just might be “it”. We are alll very excited! It’s beautiful and seems like just what we need with plenty of rooms, a good yard for the children to play in, etc. etc. The owner was nice and personable and was very interested in the work that we do, especially when we talked about the products we produce for children to teach good morals and to offer something better than is found on many children’s programs these days. He is a TV producer so he was interested in that aspect of our work. He also has a son that he adores and was talking about his concerns regarding what is aired on television for children and said that a lot of it even lacks normal human intelligence.

Well, we love the house but…..the price! What he is trying to get as monthly rent for it is far above our budget. The good news is that he very much liked what we do and the fact that it would be our home and a base for our missionary work. He has an offer from someone who wants to turn it into a university and someone else would like it for a bed and breakfast motel and they are offering a good price but he doesn’t want that because he wants to keep it as a “home” (it has sentimental value to him because he grew up there). We told him that it’s not that, being the amount of people that we are, couldn’t make and pay the amount he’s asking but we have decided to dedicate our lives to helping others and so we need a place where we can continue to do that and not have to spend the majority of our time making money. So we definitely told him that we can’t afford that he’s asking for it, but we haven’t actually negotiated a price yet—that is the next step but we want to make sure we are prayed up and do what the Lord wants us to do. It’s going to be a miracle for him to come down in price to what we can afford to pay, but the Lord can do it if it’s His will. Exciting!
