Party

Vas writes: I have talked a bit about the different work and ministries that I’ve been involved in, but for this blog I’d like to talk about a bit of our recreation. As you know within The Family International and in our home there are a lot of young people and it goes without saying that young people like to have fun! Recently it was Abb’s birthday (one of the teenagers in our home) so due to the fact that we’re not in Mexico city, it’s not easy to throw a party and get a big turn out of other missionary young people but we were concerned and wanted to have a good turn out for a party for Abbs to celebrate her birthday.
And thank God it quickly was mobilized and after communicating with different homes in the surrounding areas we had a handle on what the turn out would be and it was enough to have a good party. Around 50 young people showed up and because they all traveled about 2 hours to get here, we told them to bring a sleeping bag so we could all crash out after the party. We also said absolutely no hard liquor and the suggested number of beers per person was 3 and definitely no more than 3 for those 18-21. It was my job to monitor this. I’m a bit of a party animal myself, but it always helps me not to go overboard when I know I’m also responsible to make sure that nobody else goes overboard.
Anyway, I thought it was a very good party. It’s not like we have anything against hard liquor but the reason why we decided to have no hard liquor is because in the Family, it’s not permissible for those under 21. Anyway, the party as great we danced till about 3 am and every one ended up throwing each other in the pool which got pretty wild. I got attacked due to the fact that I was one of the instigators of throwing people in the pool and they almost pulled my shorts off. It was a good clean party and a lot of fun; no accidents, no incidents, all very cool since I was one of the ones responsible. Good fun!
