A fortune in souls (photos)

Vas writes: The other day one of the kids came up to me and said “let me read your fortune.†They had one of those papers foldy things where you pick a number and they fold and unfold and then tell you your fortune. At first I was like, “no it’s ok, I don’t like to do those.†But the child replied saying “no, this is a good one, trust me.â€
So I said OK and picked the number three I think. So she counted it out and said “oh, next time you go out witnessing you’re gonna win 60 souls!†I was like “wow, well, thanks for the prediction.†She went happily on her way, leaving me thinkging “woah, I don’t know if I wanna let her down or for that matter, if I don’t win 60 souls will I be letting God down?â€
The next day we went to a Juvenile detention center and I prayed with 60 inmates to receive Jesus.
After singing with our little singing group we performed a skit which we call “The Box Skit.†The main character is named “Paco” and he’s trapped in an invisible box. I played Paco and even though I’m not a mime, I did my very best to act the story—Paco is trapped in an invisible box and as each person that passes by tries to give him what they think is the answer is to him getting out of the box—drugs, church religion, education, money, women, none of these would help him break free from the box. That is, until someone invites him to open his heart and ask Jesus to come in. Upon doing this, Paco tries one last time to step outside the box, afraid that maybe it won’t work, but he’s overjoyed to find that it does! After expressing extreme happiness at this, that’s when I stepped out of character and invited everyone in the audience to pray and receive Jesus with me. I did notice that the crowd consisted of around 60 young people, but when I led the prayer my eyes were closed so I didn’t really know if all of them prayed with me. After the show when talking to one of the overseers, he commented that it is normally very hard to get this crowd to react in a positive way, much less interact and join in except for riling things up in a negative way. He expressed surprise that today they had all bowed their heads and prayed along with me, every last one of them.
So, today I was able to tell the child that her prediction came true and she in a very grown-up-way said that she knew it was just a game and it doesn’t always come true like that but it’s cool that it did this time. I have to agree.
Here’s some pictures of us singing the event:
