Tiffany & Rowen’s birthdays

Joni Writes: In my post about Tiffany’s Birthday I told you that we just had a “little celebration” and we were waiting for Vas to come home to have the “official” Birthday celebration. Well, Rowen also has her birthday in March—March 31st. In fact, in our Family home here, all the little girl’s birthdays are back to back. We have four little girls born in March, and one in early April! Three of them are Aries, two of them Pisces. So….that’s a lot of partying, cake, icecream and presents in one month!
We got Rowen a bike for her birthday which is what she really wanted and as soon as Vas came home she saw a small part of a bike wheel as Daddy tried secretly to take it out of the van, and she wanted to ride it right away instead of waiting for the birthday party—why not. She was so excited. She couldn’t wait to show Daddy how she could ride without training wheels as while Daddy was away one day she just started riding one of the of the other girls bikes without any help, from one day to the next. So we had a birthday celebration for Rowen and Tiffany together and another one of their friends.
I had asked Tiff what kind of a cake she wanted and she said “a princess cake” (of course.) So I had a big plan to make a cake in the shape of a skirt and stick half of a Barbie doll in the top so the cake would look like her skirt and then decorate it with pink icing and stuff…but, well…heh, I started working on it and I just happened to have Frances in the carry backpack on my back, and she decided that she wasn’t happy and started crying uncontrollably and the icing was dripping everywhere instead of sticking firmly to the cake, etc. I was tempted to loose it and cry (yep.) So, the kids walked in and said “what are you doing Mommy?” I had to think quick, so I’m sure it was the Lord that gave me this idea. I said, “Would you guys like to decorate your own cake?”
Well, that was a big hit and it saved the day. Kids are so easy to please and they had a good time. It’s more important to have fun than have everything perfect right?
