Never (video download)

Here’s an audio/visual download from Wordstock III (48mb download) which is really cool. As you notice, I’m playing bass for another band named Free. We actually had to rotate bass players between Chris, Godfrey and myself. Gerardo played drums for it. We learned all the songs in about an hour. So needless to say it was a miracle. The spirit fell very heavily, probably the heaviest during all of Wordstock. Sometimes I feel that God blesses teamwork in the sense that basically the drummer and the bass player from Free were’nt able to make it from Europe for visa reasons so the Creature band ended up helping to pick up the bass and the drums side of things. To make it easy to learn the bass we devided the songs up between the three of us but still Gerardo had to learn all of the songs. This was really cool though and it was very fun to be a part of something the Lrod blessed so much.
When Godfrey got up to play, Chris and I were on the mixer and vice versa as Godfrey was pouring out his heart and soul to mix all the bands and make them sound as good as he possibly could. The mixing job is always a selfless job because they have the ability to make it sound good or bad and if they sound good, the glory doesn’t go to the mixer but to the band. Really the glory goes to the Lrod and the Lord definitely blessed David and Peter with his band Free. They delivered a power packed performance, very fun, it was impossible to resist the temptation to contort and to mosh and to head bang your heart out, not that that’s fun for all of you that are reading this but it is fun for some of us.
It’s so nice to be with all these different bands who are really one together, resisting the temptation to compete but rather working together to make the concert good. I remeber I was at one concert witnessing, there were two big name heavy metal bands and as one band was walking off the stage and the other was entering they started screaming profanites at eachother and had to be held back from physically harming each other. I would like to think that musicians are a team and working together to bring the public a vision of heaven, peace, a glimpse into another realm, soothing and enhancing emotions—good emotions and within The Family International our bands are either doing that or striving to and though we’re not perfect, we do compare with each other at times and fear being upstaged, in the end we’re happy and we want all the bands to deliver an excellent performance. When the job is done we enjoy each others’ company and celebrate in the victory. All that to say, Free rocked and I was honored to be able to help in the small way, playing bass for three of their songs and the fact that we actually pulled it off in such a short amount of time, was nothing short of a miracle. I hope that you can capture the ardent emotion in this video clip.

That was THE thing that impressed me the most about you guys at Wordstock III, and you know, i have to say that I really agree with you that it must have something to do with how powerfully the spirit fell.
I thought Free and Creature were AMAZING together -the best of the best. But most amazing is that you played together so well completely becoming one band for the set.
I think a lot of people noticed that… so nice you all share in the credit as the vessels the Lord used.
Thanks for mentioning the mixing… God bless Godfrey, and everyone who helped. Wow.

Brings back a lot of wonderful memories from Wordstock3! I really admire you all, how you pulled down the spirit and socked it to us like that! You were so tight as a team, the unity was what made the delivery power packed, cause you weren’t just preachin’ the songs, you were livin’ it! What a powerful message! God bless you, Vas and those that worked on making it work! You’re wonderful!

The Music of the Spirit is alive and wild and free
The Music of the Spirit is delivered through unity
The Music of the Spirit can only come through being Revolutionary
The Music of the Spirit is only Jesus not you or me
Fantastic! Great performance and super-duper song!
