LTC: Tell us about a miracle of supply that happened to you? What’s the most amazing answer to prayer for supply you’ve ever experienced?

I’ve been blessed with so many dramatic tales of His supply…the most amazing ones for me were when I needed really huge amounts, like to travel cross-continents. I’m not naturally big on faith. The risk freaks me out. But every single time, the Lord came through. Whenever I start doubting Him, I just think back to those times when He provided for me when the situation seemed impossible.

One particular miracle happened just after the 2004 Tsunami. I was lying in my bed after New Years. I’d had a horrible New Year and was so absorbed with negative thoughts about myself and my personal problems; I was thinking of quitting this whole missionary thing…and as clear as anything, the Lord told me I was supposed to get off my sorry ass and go start thinking about others—and He told me to go and help the Tsunami victims.

At this time, I was living in Uganda, so it was like, yeah right, how am I supposed to just “go” and do that?! It’s not like I even had any pocket money just then. I went downstairs and my good friend was there, and I said to her, “So…I just got this revelation that I’m supposed to go back to Asia for a few weeks and help out the Tsunami victims.” And she says, “The Lord told me the exact same thing!”

So we continued to pray that if it was truly the Lord’s will, He would give us the funds right away, so we could both go. That night, we were on our way to a restaurant, and one of our friends just happened to be sitting there, and she says, “Hey, what are you guys up to?” And I said, “Oh, we’ve just decided we’re going back to Asia for a little while, to help volunteer with the Tsunami victims. Now we’re just praying for the cash to do it!” (It did sound kind of silly.)

She looks at us and says, “Do you take checks?”

I couldn’t believe my ears—or my eyes! On the spot she signed for $1,000 US! And this was just hours after our decision to trust God to supply! You cannot imagine the high we were experiencing just then! The next day, we looked in a newspaper and found out that Kenya Airways had a special promo—$700 Round trip BUY ONE TAKE ONE TO THAILAND!!!! Can you imagine? It was exactly where we were heading! So we had $300 leftover, ha!

We landed in Thailand, backpacked around while testing out our options, and visited some Family Homes there, who hooked us up with a needy situation in Sri Lanka. Along the way, people gave us more donations to travel, and we finally ended up in Colombo, helping out the refugee camps there. It was an amazing month! I saw the Lord working the whole way; it was a life-changing experience, and a turning point in my “missionary career”. The moment we made it all the way back to Entebbe airport, I knew there was a God who was looking after us, and Whom I trust with the rest of my life.

…So that’s just one of the many stories I could tell you!
