The Lord’s supply #4 (Nyx)

LTC: How do you think The Family International differs from other Christians in the arena of trusting God for supply (if any)?
I have to tell you something—I haven’t really been living by faith; at least not until I came back to Manila six months ago. In all the Family Homes I lived, there were people with great faith, who acted on that faith, and I just leaned on that, not really exercising my own “faith muscles”. It was easy to depend on someone else’s faith, to not have to take that risk, and not feel ultimately responsible. But here, now, my spiritual workout really began, and wow! It hurt in the beginning; I wasn’t used to living by faith completely.
Something that helped me was my parents’ attitude—something they learned in the Family. They have such a peace and trust in God….it’s almost….annoying, ha! Here I am worrying and working myself sick, and there they are, just “knowing” that God won’t fail us! They taught me to put faith AND works together, to believe and know that the Lord would keep His word, and then to act on the word He gives.
In the Family, people don’t just talk about living by faith. They DO it. And so many of them have large families—a lot of Family members are my age with large families! And they’re out on the mission field, knowing God is going to provide for them and their children. Now that I know what its like to have to support a family, I’m glad there’s been so many Family publications teaching us how to do it; how to put God on the spot and rely on Him.
