Go into all the world…
As you can see, all of our bloggers are back! Vas and Joni have several posts detailing their adventures in opening a new Family International center, Sara is up in Kodi with a group of Family young people, and Nyx blogs about “The Da Vinci Code.” We’ll have more on that topic and more this coming week.
Perhaps the single most important part of the Family International’s creed is spreading the Good News and living the Bible verse Mark 16:15. I’ve lived in about twelve countries in my life. That’s actually not that many compared to some of my peers in the Family International, but I’m not complaining. I’ve met all kinds of people, from Japan and India to Mexico and Chile and the one thing that I’ve seen first-hand is that, where ever I go, people are the same on the inside. I’ve met friendly people, indifferent people, passionate people, hostile people, and when I take the time to talk to one of them, dig deeper than the usual small-talk and chit-chat, I often find that the person is searching for… something. Oftentimes they’re not even sure what it is that they’re looking for, but it’s a feeling inside that there’s something missing, a purpose, a reason for being alive that they haven’t figured out yet.
This is usually the perfect time to explain to them that the answer to all of their questions can be found in accepting Jesus as their Savior. It really is so simple, yet so powerful, and once they’ve accepted Him by praying and asking Him into their heart, often they look at you with new understanding. It’s like a light is turned on inside, or there is a subtle shift in their demeanor that’s kind of hard to describe, but it’s there. I get a real rush when this happens, and as a missionary and preacher of the Gospel I find it very meaningful to be present when a new soul is born into Everlasting Life.
Now I’ve come to find myself living in Central America, in Guatemala, and I have to say that I’ve met some of the friendliest people of anywhere in the entire world here in just the short month since arriving. People are easy to approach, easy to talk to, easy to get to know, and most importantly, easy to share the message of salvation with—the Good News of Jesus sacrifice for us on the cross. Whether it’s difficult or easy though, we’re still bound by the Great Commission of Mark 16:15 to “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel.” It’s the reason why we and the LTC bloggers and members of the Family International at large do what we do. It’s why we endure hardships and dangers, sacrifice our personal goals and desires, all to do what Jesus asks of us.
We do it for you, because Jesus loves you—And we love you! Thanks for reading!
