Pioneer stories, part 2 — Bats

Back to our story about staying in “the Talpalpa house†we had another exciting thing happen there. It was pretty funny. We had been warned that bats sometimes came into the house so we were somewhat prepared for the eventuality that we may have an encounter with one…and we did! I think it was the first night we were there, we had all gathered in the small living room around the fire place and the kids were watching a movie on the computer when all of a sudden a bat starts frantically flying around, just swooping down right over our heads. The girls were all yelling and the guys got some brooms trying to push (somehow) the thing out the door. What was funny is that the kids were so into watching their movie that they promptly got under the table that was there, and feeling very safe from the bat, continued to enjoy watching their movie. Well, the bat didn’t exactly go out the door but flew up into a hole in the roof and we never saw him again.
Besides all of our adventures at this house including being without water for a day and a half, it was a bonding experience for us and it was a beautiful place for the kids to play outside. The Lord also did a miracle by helping us to find a house so quickly, within a week. Vas and Godfrey were the scouting team and they really worked hard at finding the right place for us. But we’ll tell you about that in the next post.

We had a huge rat come in last night and it was running back and forth along the curtain rods! Well, not much of a testimony, but the bat story sorta reminded me of it..heh. The boys threatened to ‘turn it loose’ in our room…..the girls room that is. Thank God I haven’t lived in a girls roomfor sometime now.
