Day off

Joni: A few days ago it was our rest day (AKA a day off). While we were on the road and in the process of moving, we didn’t have any “real” rest days. We were very busy and of course our usual schedule was all screwie, so having this day off was wonderful to say the least and very needed. Thanks to the lovely single girls in our home that watched the 11 children that currently reside in our new home (no small task, I assure you) so the parents could have a day off. It was neat because in the morning when I was spending some time hearing from the Lord He told me that He was going to do something special for me that day. He told me that even if it was just some extra encouraging words from someone, to realize that it was something special He wanted to send my way, so I was expecting something like that I guess. Then in the afternoon we decided to go out, Vas, our friend Spring, and I. I had been wanting to go to the dollar store to see if we could find some of the things we needed to set up the house a little better. Well, we ended up deciding while driving to go check out the Hard Rock Cafe in this city, as our band might try to play there. We just wanted to relax, no real agenda. Before going in, we decided to try to talk with the manager to see if he would be able to help us with a free meal for our day off. I was only able to talk with him on the phone, but he was very nice and agreed to help us. We had a nice pasta meal and really enjoyed ourselves. Didn’t seem like such a happening place though. Since this Hard Rock Cafe happens to be in a mall, we soon set our sights on the cinema—heh! The manager there also agreed to help us and gave us free tickets to Miami Vice. It was pretty good I thought and was on the edge of my seat for most of it.
I saw and felt the Lord’s love and He really did make my day special. Here’re a couple of pics of us at the HRC.
