Life in The Family International

Well, just got back from Eurock…didn’t have any time to blog while there. The schedule was full with time with Jesus in the morning via a class by very inspired teachers and during the day sound checks for all the bands that were to play that evening and actally playing or mixing during the concerts till pretty late at night. Actually my job as the sound technician was relatively easy. I had to walk around the room and listen to how it sounded in different parts and give my critique to either Godfrey or Peter so I did feel a bit like a bum, but they assured me this job was needed. This made it possible for me to really enjoy the music and the concerts as I moshed while simultaniously dissecting the frequencies…if that’s even possible. It did cross my mind that I was faking it as a sound tech. Oh, another daily event which I was basically forced to do was jog through the beautiful German countryside. I say “forced” because I’m asthmatic and allergic to dust and when staying in a new or different place than I’m used to, the dust mites really cause an allergic reaction…itchy eyes, runny nose, profuse sneezing. One night it was our turn to play and I was completely puffy eyed and runny nosed and we were about to get up on stage. It’s basically impossible to sing and concentrate on playing guitar when you feel like this, you may know what I mean. But, either the air on stage was cleaner or what I like to think is that God did a miracle and I immediately felt much better when I got on stage. It could also be the fact that I was distracted and a bit nervous to perform and got my mind off of my itchy nose. It seems that asthma is a bit mental as well.

Vas and Joni are members of The Family International and are fulltime missionaries in Mexico. Vas helps to organize outreach, writes, records and produces music, plays in a band, performs and does shows, counsels young people and engages in evangelism.
