Typhoon aftermath

We were lucky to get our power back before the rest of the world…some of my friends say its been five days after typhoon Xangsane and still nothing. So life around here is back to normal.
Except my Internet connection goes on and off, so the other day when it disappeared, I tried to get it back for four hours, got so annoyed with the phone technicians who made me run laps, so then gave up and took a walk to the mall behind my house…and ran into some friends from the other Family Home! Yay! Was so excited! They were on their day off and having some beers near my house, so we hung out for a bit, caught up on stuff, and then I promptly invited myself down to their place for the night.
So sweet that they let me, and I do feel spoiled, heheh.
There’s a bunch of new missionaries just flown in from other continents–Africa, in fact! So that was so fun, getting to know them all and their adorable kids. That’s what I love about The Family–it’s the only place in the world that complete strangers will allow you into their homes and welcome you with open arms, give you good food and a warm bed for the night, out of pure unselfish love and brotherhood.
Us young people picked up some more beers on the way and then hung out till the late hours of the night. Good fun. I’ve decided I’m going to do my daily jog to that Home, play soccer or whatever, and then jog back to my place…I’d be putting in 3 miles each time. Not bad, eh?
