Addfest, Day One

Sweet sweat, ever present and comforting was all around. Bombay humidity is overwhelming, but somehow it didn’t bother me today. I was too busy trying to fit 130 people into the ever-winding resort that was to host the Addfest. The bus pulled up and we saw 100 smiling faces peering out who were relieved and happy to finally have arrived. They were color coded by age groups with a hand band and sent to their rooms for showers (you can imagine the pressing need) and then for lunch. Such cuties these kids all piling out, I really wanted to hug them all…….but the sweat…….
Well, as I said we were trying to keep Vas and Godfrey somewhat hidden and they were getting sound set up in the hall or something, and I noticed that they had all their stuff in a room that some teens were just about to take over. Freak out Sara freak out. So ran I did, and shoved all their stuff in a car (yes, even that big green and yellow suitcase) and cleared whatever belongings were decorating the room so the teens could move in. Well, after the big operation the teens heard them practicing anyway in the hall, so I was a little discomforted…but not forsaken. I guess sometimes I just want things to be perfect. Anyone out there like that? Heh. So off to the keynote and then moving on to the first music bash of the camp. I don’t want to dwell too much on the sweat, but the first evening was real sweat bath – everyone jumping in that hall, sweat spraying with every strum. God bless the musicians. Joe, Tim, John, Godfrey, and Vas – they really worked hard to get their act together before the evening and the teens were happy at the end of the day. So, I went to bed with a bright smile that night. In an air-conditioned room may I add.
