Questions about Christmas (part 2)

What would you say was your most unusual place to have Christmas? Any interesting, weird or wonderful Christmas customs in your current field?
My first Mexican Christmas felt unusual, as it was my first Christmas in the northern hemisphere. It seemed so weird to be cold! Ha. It actually snowed in Monterrey on the 24th of December, and that was just so… quaint. I know it’s the norm for everyone else, but for me it was like, “hey I’ve seen this in the movies!”
Is there anything different about Christmas in the Family as opposed to Christmas (or Xmas) in other religious groups? If so, what would you say they are?
Christmas can get a bit stressful, so I like the fact that we always remember to stop and give to others. I also like that we remember that we’re celebrating Jesus’ birth (and consequent sacrifice), as it adds depth and meaning to an otherwise crazy holiday season.
What are you most hoping to accomplish this Christmas season?
To survive!!
I’m kidding. Well, we have a whole lot of funds we need to raise, so I’m hoping we can accomplish that while not losing sight of the real meaning of Christmas. I don’t actually have any big, fancy plans, I just hope to make a difference and bring a genuine smile to those whose paths I cross, whether they are in an orphanage, restaurant, on the street or in the home. What can I say, I’m a simple girl.
