Life in The Family International

Vas: Well Christmas to me is a time to do what I should hopefully be doing all year round, which is to follow in the footsteps of the One who lived for others, always thinking of those in need whether the need is physical, spiritual or emotional. I know this is something that should not be just during Christmas but these holidays are a good reminder to give it an extra umph in that direction to build up some extra momentum for the rest of the year. I naturally am a little more selfish than your average person–I think–and am always convicted by my wife’s sample, so I am aware of this weakness and am going to see what special thing I can do for others this Christmas whether it be great or small. I always feel there is more I could and should be doing. This is one aspect of Christmas for me but I would say it is probably more important to celebrate Jesus’ birthday as I know He loves praise and deserves a lot more than I give Him so I think Christmas is also a time to express our intimate love for Jesus and thankfulness that he came to earth in the flesh to teach us how to love and redeem us. I also feel that whether he was born on the 25th of December or another date I think He is fine with us celebrating his Birthday on the 25th, as opposed to not celebrating it at all.

Vas and Joni are members of The Family International and are fulltime missionaries in Mexico. Vas helps to organize outreach, writes, records and produces music, plays in a band, performs and does shows, counsels young people and engages in evangelism.
