What would you say was your most unusual place to have Christmas? Any interesting, weird or wonderful Christmas customs in your current field?
I wouldn’t say “unusual”, but I found that the Decembers I spent in Uganda were different because they were so ‘quiet’, as compared to my home-country. In Kampala, everyone goes back to their villages for Christmas, and the expats all go home of course, so there’s not much action in town. Lights and decorations are minimal, so it makes for a “Silent Night’. The Party Animal in me just missed Manila during that time, I guess…but then again, I was surrounded by good friends in the Family Home there, so we had our own fun and feasting…
Nyx is a vounteer Missionary Member of The Family International. Her missions have taken her through South East Asia, India, East Africa and South Africa. She currently runs charity projects for terminally-ill, indigent children in The Philippines and is also a child-education consultant, youth counsellor, freelance writer for TV, radio, magazines, a voice-talent, illustrator, artist, Events Host and Music Marketer.
