First born

Well, a new year has officially begun and I already see lots of changes on the horizon. The biggest one is that in April I’ll become a first-time mother!! Argh it’s so soon! Thankfully I got some time to take it nice and slow in January and I’m trying to read everything on the subject that I can, so that when the baby-chaos hits I’ll be fresh and ready to deal with it.

The truth is that our Family is so experienced with having children that newbie mothers like me get heaps of help, counsel, baby-items, encouragement, etc. I know that whatever I need or whatever question I may have, there’s always someone around who can give me a hand.  It’s wonderful and reassuring… but I confess I’m still freaked out about the labor! Heh.

After many years of doing office-type missionary work, Florecita is testing her hand as a field missionary. She is currently the counselor of a group of teenagers, does outreach, restaurant singing… and anything that is needed to help her center and its projects keep momentum. She is also an aficionado of photography and hopes that with it she can show the world a little more of The Family International, its projects, and the wonderful people in it. More about Flo

    Well, Joni should be able to tell you about the labor. But from my limited experience……make sure you bring lots of mints for all who will be helping you with the breathing!!! :-) Something that really helped me in labor was to pour hot water on my back in the shower……….it really gave me some relief for a while. But you will do fine, don’t worry!!!!!

    You’ll do great Flo! It’s good to not expect the labor to be too easy…which is what I did with my first and wasn’t prepared. But you never know, some women do have it easy. Regardless, having a baby always has been the most thrilling experience of my life. I always say when I hold my baby for the first time “I would do that again.” And I guess I have :) Can’t wait to hear the wonderful news!

    Yes, yes! She was great really and everything was so relaxing at home. Are you thinking about a home birth?
