The Living Words

July 16th, 2005 | By Benji living in Brazil | More from Benji

I went out witnessing with fellow Home-member Jere today. Our first stop was the house of a woman who had called our local Activated desk to order books. The Activated desk had then forwarded her address to our Home. We drove to a not-so-nice area of town and after finding her address on a dirt […]

JJT

July 3rd, 2005 | By Benji living in Brazil | More from Benji

I’ve spent the last few days without anything worthwhile to blog about as I go about my many missionary labors. In the process I got a little discouraged thinking I haven’t accomplished anything oh-so-great (this does occasionally happen to us). Well I’ve decided to blog about one small facet of my work that might not […]

Light House Club hijinks

June 23rd, 2005 | By Benji living in Brazil | More from Benji

I arrived at the Light House Club (see previous posts for more on our youth club) and I was dutifully informed that after setting up our instruments and equipment and playing the songs for the young people with the band, I was also supposed to be a part of the skit team for the evening! […]

My birthday

June 22nd, 2005 | By Benji living in Brazil | More from Benji

That “special day” came along again…oh dear! This year my birthday fell nicely on a Thursday, which unsurprisingly, is my regularly scheduled Ceasa day. (The central market where we pick up donated fruits and veggies for all the area homes). I was fine with going though because I knew there wasn’t really any way around […]

Lost wallet, gained miracle

June 14th, 2005 | By Benji living in Brazil | More from Benji

My good friend and fellow missionary Jere told me last night that he’d lost his wallet with quite a lot of money in it, as well as his driver’s license and a bank card. We went off to an evening Bible-study group we host with a few other homes in the area and during the […]

Tennis and other woes

May 27th, 2005 | By Benji living in Brazil | More from Benji

On the second night of the retreat I began to feel terribly sick. I wasn’t able to sleep, and not wanting to be tired the next day (couldn’t really afford to, having to play in the band and all) I began to pray to the Lord for healing. (As well as asking Him for forgiveness […]

Annual retreat

May 26th, 2005 | By Benji living in Brazil | More from Benji

Well I’ve just returned from our annual area retreat which we invite friends, supporters, and just about anyone else interested in The Family to. I was there playing with our band and I took advantage of the opportunity to take my kids along, as last year I attended and enjoyed the event immensely.

The Light House Club

May 23rd, 2005 | By Benji living in Brazil | More from Benji

This week we resumed our activities at the Light House club after a few months hiatus. The idea of the club is to give our Family youth an opportunity to witness to other young people in what I would call a “witnessing friendly environment.” It’s a rented second-story room at a soccer club that has […]

Brasilia trip highlights – final

May 22nd, 2005 | By Benji living in Brazil | More from Benji

Well we’re back home. The puppet shows we had scheduled for our road trip were all very good. We prayed with about 500 kids during our stay and we also did 2 free shows; one at a public school, and one at a daycare center. Everyone, children, teachers and parents alike just loved the shows. […]

Kids soccer school

May 21st, 2005 | By Benji living in Brazil | More from Benji

Our soccer uniforms were finally made, complete with an awesome logo and all the trimmings. The kids just love them! To explain a little, my brother and I started a kid’s soccer school with another friend of ours helping out part time as well. Being the soccer freaks that my brother and I are, we […]
