Florecita's Archive

After many years of doing office-type missionary work, Florecita is testing her hand as a field missionary. She is currently the counselor of a group of teenagers, does outreach, restaurant singing… and anything that is needed to help her center and its projects keep momentum. She is also an aficionado of photography and hopes that with it she can show the world a little more of The Family International, its projects, and the wonderful people in it. More about Florecita

We got a car!!!

April 14th, 2007 | By Flo living in Mexico | More from Flo

It’s a miracle car, I tell you. Our team has been in a bit of flux lately and the inevitable winds of change found us borrowing someone’s car for an indefinite amount of time, even though the lender was needing it in a very definite period of time. Sooo, we needed a miracle. We got [...]

Jiutepec

April 10th, 2007 | By Flo living in Mexico | More from Flo

Our little town of Jiutepec held a festival in celebration of “The family unit”. Our very awesome (yet very nervous) singing group was invited to participate, and so even though they had absolutely no idea what the event, stage, sound, or anything would be like they jumped at the opportunity with their whole hearts. Thankfully [...]

About to pop

April 3rd, 2007 | By Flo living in Mexico | More from Flo

I don’t know how active my blogging or my life is going to be these next weeks, as I am literally about to pop. Wish me luck! Someone asked for photos, so here you go! Follow the link.

Free hugs

March 27th, 2007 | By Flo living in Mexico | More from Flo

A while ago this “free hugs” video clip started making the rounds in cyberspace, and apparently has become quite the fad! I love the idea and think everyone should carry around one of those signs. It’s a great way to get to know people, pass out tracts… and just have fun! We haven’t done it [...]

Water park fun

March 18th, 2007 | By Flo living in Mexico | More from Flo

In celebration of James’ 6th birthday he was allowed his first mohawk haircut (now I want my kid to be born so I can do the same thing to him!!!) and 4 local homes got free tickets to a day of fellowship at the water park. My massive belly and I spent most of the [...]

High stakes

March 14th, 2007 | By Flo living in Mexico | More from Flo

Well, life ain’t always easy, is it? We recently had a nasty bout of the endless flu, different projects and endeavors of ours are in the up-in-the-air stage, and I find it particularly not-fun to be struggling to pay the bills. It just doesn’t feel very “idealistic”. But He never said it would be easy, [...]

A red hankerchief

February 25th, 2007 | By Flo living in Mexico | More from Flo

If we can’t change the entire world, is alleviating the pain good enough? Sometimes it feels like our grain of sand is really only that: a grain of sand, but here’s a story from my mom, a hospital clown in Chile, in defense of the “band-aid” theory. She wrote it for her yahoo group Clowns To [...]

Neighbors

February 19th, 2007 | By Flo living in Mexico | More from Flo

This is just a silly story on how it really is worthwhile to face life with a positive attitude. A while back the electricity for our whole neighborhood went out. One of our couples decided to take a walk, being that their computer work was now halted. At the door they ran into our fuming [...]

First born

January 28th, 2007 | By Flo living in Mexico | More from Flo

Well, a new year has officially begun and I already see lots of changes on the horizon. The biggest one is that in April I’ll become a first-time mother!! Argh it’s so soon! Thankfully I got some time to take it nice and slow in January and I’m trying to read everything on the subject [...]

Questions about Christmas (part 2)

December 23rd, 2006 | By Flo living in Mexico | More from Flo

What would you say was your most unusual place to have Christmas? Any interesting, weird or wonderful Christmas customs in your current field? My first Mexican Christmas felt unusual, as it was my first Christmas in the northern hemisphere. It seemed so weird to be cold! Ha. It actually snowed in Monterrey on the 24th [...]
