Florecita's Archive

After many years of doing office-type missionary work, Florecita is testing her hand as a field missionary. She is currently the counselor of a group of teenagers, does outreach, restaurant singing… and anything that is needed to help her center and its projects keep momentum. She is also an aficionado of photography and hopes that with it she can show the world a little more of The Family International, its projects, and the wonderful people in it. More about Florecita

Ah, hind-sight

It was my turn to cook breakfast this cold, rainy morning, and as I stood half-awake by the stove stirring the pot of oatmeal it occurred to me that not everybody can prepare a decent bowl of oatmeal. (Shock!) I remember clearly the person who taught me how to prepare it—in fact she taught me [...]

Print media woes

I’ve been reading in the news about the capture of Warren Steve Jeffs, a leader of the Church of the Latter Day Saints. Having been on the bitter receiving end of media sensationalism, I’m having a hard time making up my mind about the guy. Everything seems to point against him, but who knows? It’s [...]

So we had a great weekend with the restaurant singing: the managers were sweet, we got phone numbers of people who are interested in hearing more about our work, the CD-cards sold well and to top it off we were invited to sing at the monthly Conectate meeting we organize for our friends and supporters [...]

Color me green with envy. May the Lord help me, but I WISH I WERE THERE!!!! One day, before I’ve left Mexico, something like this will happen in this country and I’ll get to experience it with my own 5 senses. Until then, the photo gallery and video clips will have to do the trick: [...]

God’s set-ups

August 27th, 2006 | By Flo living in Mexico | More from Flo

The other day we had a pretty embarrassing misunderstanding when we showed up for an audition at an Italian restaurant in the city center (all dressed up in our colorful singing outfits) only to find out the owners had no idea we were coming. Kindly they explained that we had wasted our time because they [...]

B.L.A.S.T. is a yearly camp that The Family International in Mexico organizes for its members ages 14 through18. It is one of the big highlights of the year, so we’re all looking forward to October rolling around… yes, I include myself because I want to go as staff! That means that we’re hoping to send [...]

Hello World!

Hello world! Greetings from a little house on the outskirts of Jiutepec, which is on the outskirts of Cuernavaca, which is on the outskirts of Mexico City. I’m 24 years old, and haven’t blogged in a while so please bear with me while I get back in gear. I’m having a rather difficult time finding [...]
