It’s been a whirlwind of activity

September 4th, 2007 | By Nyx living in Philippines | More from Nyx

In re-capsuling the last few months–well, last few years, in fact, I see a definite pattern in a one-year-per-episode that the Lord has been making of my life. This last year, I did lots of travel…while trying to find my place on this mission field. It was hard to know how or where I could […]

Sorry for the absence

June 17th, 2007 | By Nyx living in Philippines | More from Nyx

Between today and my last post, there’s been tons to write about…isn’t that how it normally goes? –just when your work has picked up speed and progressed tremendously, something tragic happens. In this case, I come home one day to find out that my computer has succummbed to a special kind of nasty virus which […]

My birthday!

May 23rd, 2007 | By Nyx living in Philippines | More from Nyx

Today, my 26th birthday, starts midday, after recovering from lastnight…eh heh. A handful of friends organized a private jaccuzzi bubble bath party atop a condo in the city. We partied till sunrise, and when the day’s first light came up, it silhoutted the buildings, with a glorious orangey hue on the horizon. After groggily waking […]

A new disciple

May 7th, 2007 | By Nyx living in Philippines | More from Nyx

Something happened this week that is possibly the most exciting thing for me in my history of being in the Family: one of my friends (whom I met this year) just joined the Home and moved in as a new disciple!!! I know that the life he has chosen will be one he’ll never regret, […]

Practice buzz

May 3rd, 2007 | By Nyx living in Philippines | More from Nyx

Our little house has been a buzz of activity all week. I think performing arts come naturally to kids growing up in the Family International; music is very much a part of our outreach ministries, and we are taught at an early age to use the gifts and talents the Lord gives us to benefit […]

Goodbye Chris!

April 18th, 2007 | By Nyx living in Philippines | More from Nyx

One of our faithful SGA missionaries here in Manila, and a super-dedicated guy just moved fields–not quite out of the country, but just further down South. Christian will be missed here, but we all know he’s going on to bigger and better (!) things, and we pray the Lord will continue to keep Him happy […]

The cycle of God’s will

March 16th, 2007 | By Nyx living in Philippines | More from Nyx

Sometimes the way the Lord speaks to us about certain things is in different ways that catch our personal attention. I have been praying about my spiritual life recently, and admittedly getting a bit discouraged that I haven’t been able to do as much “real” mission work as I used to on other fields, as […]

Feast 2007 photos

March 12th, 2007 | By Nyx living in Philippines | More from Nyx

Hi there, argh…I know I’ve been bad at blogging…I promised you blogs about the Family Birthday and Feast…well, there was so much to digest and so much goodness for this famished soul. I think I’ll just leave you with pictures as they speak a thousand words. Turns out my “Gift of Rest” was, in fact, […]

Resting in the Lord, pt 2

February 24th, 2007 | By Nyx living in Philippines | More from Nyx

Just getting out of my pajamas now to get ready to meet up with the other Family Homes to join in on “The Feast”, our annual retreat. It’s something I am looking forward to, although I have to keep telling myself that taking nearly a week off and away from work IS A GOOD THING!!! […]

Resting in the Lord

February 17th, 2007 | By Nyx living in Philippines | More from Nyx

Recently, a bit before the break of the New Year, I stayed the weekend in one of the Family homes nearby for my day off. When I woke up in the early morning, the children hadn’t stirred yet, and it was calm and quiet. The Lord told me to turn my gaze towards the sunrise […]
