New adventures in everyday living

September 28th, 2006 | By Nyx living in Philippines | More from Nyx

More action happening on the home front than anywhere else. For so many years I have had more "active" ministries in the Family, and I know it’s been the assumption that the busier missionaries are the ones on the field, in the far flung jungles and tribes, or out ministering in the leper colonies and [...]

All the proof I need

September 23rd, 2006 | By Nyx living in Philippines | More from Nyx

Yesterday I was talking to someone who is a professed atheist. In the past, I may have been somewhat intimidated by some athiests’ strong perspectives on religion or spirituality and such… but this time, as I spoke with him I became even more enthusiastic about my God. You see, I was just telling a story [...]

His magical love

September 20th, 2006 | By Nyx living in Philippines | More from Nyx

In The Family International, different levels of membership allow for part-time jobs. I live with just my family, as a Missionary Member, and as you’ve probably noticed in my blogs, its been hard to make ends meet. He has provided in various ways, and promised us He would continue to if we kept on serving [...]

Life’s puzzles

September 1st, 2006 | By Nyx living in Philippines | More from Nyx

My little 2 year old brother RJ has one of those foam puzzles, you know those mat things you can put together? In the early mornings, before anyone else in the house has stirred, he wakes up to play, and goes to his floor puzzle, taking it apart and then putting it back together, over [...]

Letting HIM get close

August 29th, 2006 | By Nyx living in Philippines | More from Nyx

Probably one of the biggest lessons in life the Lord has taught me–and retaught me–along the years of serving Him, is that He wants me to lean on HIM alone and not any one person. I like the security, the dependence, being able to lean on someone else and have them make my decisions. Lately, [...]

Scaling mountains, part 2

August 22nd, 2006 | By Nyx living in Philippines | More from Nyx

So after I sent in that last post, I was fishing for something inspirational to read. One of the blogs I stalk has a bunch of that on it, and this quote which was posted jumped out at me, like the perfect solution to my problem. (Jesus:) There are many ways that I work in [...]

Scaling mountains

August 15th, 2006 | By Nyx living in Philippines | More from Nyx

You know those days when you have so much, yet so little to blog about? Or maybe it’s just that there are so many scattered things, that picking up the pieces, rearranging the letters, and forming sentences that actually make sense sounds more tedious than doing it. This week has been one big blur of [...]

the Da Vinci Code

July 31st, 2006 | By Nyx living in Philippines | More from Nyx

So, I went to see The Da Vinci Code the other night. Seemed I was the only person in the world who hadn’t yet read the book, and the three other friends I was with were glad for that because they wanted another opinion on the film from someone who had no clue what the [...]

Learning, always

July 26th, 2006 | By Nyx living in Philippines | More from Nyx

Every now and then I get enlisted to help work on The Family International’s publications—mostly illustrating comic series for teenagers. I love this work, but of course, the work comes with other things, things that aren’t always the”fun” part. Let me explain: Last month, I was assigned a 5 page illustration project for this comic [...]

Resting in the Lord

July 20th, 2006 | By Nyx living in Philippines | More from Nyx

Well I didn’t get any revelations “up on the mountains”. Didn’t hear any audible voice booming from Heaven or see any visions. My three days spent away, alone, up in the quiet and solitude of communion and mediation with the Lord, heart-to-heart, were exactly that—quiet, and uninterrupted. But you know, I realized I could get [...]
