In re-capsuling the last few months–well, last few years, in fact, I see a definite pattern in a one-year-per-episode that the Lord has been making of my life. This last year, I did lots of travel…while trying to find my place on this mission field. It was hard to know how or where I could be most useful for the Lord…and I seemed to only find out, just when I stopped “trying” to look.

The year before that was full of activities with my hospital projects–securing sponsorships, getting the kids’ (with cancer) needs met, etc. Lots of production work there, as well as a lot of instability at home–which contributed to the balance, ha.

My “years” seem to start somewhere near the end of the actual year date, if that makes any sense–like, September, October. That’s when everything seems to kick in. So, as this cycle turned, it became apparent how the Lord was leading me and my not so little family.

We went through so many ups and downs, oh wow. I could write so much on that…but I think, for the sake of this blog, we’ll leave out the negative. Then the Lord did some miraculous things which could have only happened thru complete, Divine Intervention. These were changes of heart, of lifestyle, of the dedication of individuals and requiring me to yield even when it seemed impossible to my nature. And although we’re not nearly in the “perfect” spiritual state, we’ve come a long way in a year, and you can tell by the happiness we’re experiencing as a family.

The latest exciting thing is that the Lord has opened up the doors for a brand new prison ministry. This has been a dream of mine–not so much the prison itself as the actual work we are doing, through art. Going back to the topic of years in a life, it seemed that in each one of mine, the Lord was trying to say to me that destinies had a lot to do with the experiences and choices one made. And the way He is in constant control (for our own happiness) of our lives and surrounds us with people whom He knows will play important roles in our future, giving us experiences that will take us even further than we have dreamed before–that is so interesting.

The current Prison ministry is detailed and very challenging. But, exciting as life for the Lord always is. More and more, I see the intense Spiritual Warfare, the necessity of staying close to the Lord and following His guidance, the wisdom of His Love, and the Power of Prayer. I know this all sounds a bit vague at the moment, but I’ve been so delinquent on this blog that there’s too much to tell. I will though, as thinking back what’s ensued only puts my mind more at ease. So many stories!!!

…His Plan is perfect, and there certainly is “A Time For Every Purpose under Heaven”.

The baby is now a month old, and still nameless. What a wonder! Somehow my Leo mind and my husbands Gemini mind don’t seem to come to a conclusion on this one… ok give it a week and we will have it.

Right now we are understaffed by 5 people; Dani, Sunshine, David, Laura, and Phoebe who have all gone up to a hillstation to attend a 3 week training camp. They all left with stars in their eyes and high spirits – they were especially excited to be meeting up with many other young people from all over India and even some from other countries. At this camp they will get training in both the spiritual and vocational aspects of our work. Speaking of training programs, I am doing a similar one which requires that you complete a four month online course first and then you get to attend the 3 week training seminar. This program covers topics such as; leadership, PR, worth ethic, etc. I have found it very helpful so far, except I am a bit behind………due to having a little break at the hospital with the baby and then at home. Well, I hope to finish it in time – keep your fingers crossed for me.

Of course, it will always be a work in progress and we will need to upgrade our materials, equipment etc etc. But some major things have gotten done. For one, someone gave us a new, flat screen, top of the line computer – with speakers, mouse, and everything. This has been such a lifesaver, since now we keep all the learning materials on the computer as well and the children can do a host of things. The teachers are also able to do planning and Child Care research online. We were also able to get some much need play equipment, like some tricycles and a little scooty thingie for their age. They are quite pleased as you can see in the following photo. We have 2 more babies on the way as well as one 10 month old besides these kids in the photo.
And in the second pic you can see Daisy, their intelligent teacher!

Cheers for Munj, the new addition to our team!  A lovely girl, and brilliant with children. Her real name is Mariangela, but the kids and all call her Munj for short.  I was a bit concerned as before when a new teacher would come, the toddlers would break out in all kinds of embarrassing and unpredictable behaviour.  (aka. Picking their noses and depositing the discovered ‘treasures’ on the teacher, peeing wherever there was an open space, telling the teacher how much they didn’t like them, wailing for a number of hours on end, only pausing for breath..etc).  How wonderful that today the only untoward incident was one of them biting the other and that was quickly remedied.  I have to say they have improved in their behaviour after much desperate prayer and many meetings and now things are pretty smooth.  I can hardly believe how intelligent these little guys can be.  Yesterday my two year old was asking me about galaxies and what they are made out of, where you find them etc.  I was like…….umm  some nebulous gases… uhh.. groups of stars…..heh….

Well, I guess you never stop learning as a parent and I’m sure it’ll be a whole new caboodle of lessons when the new baby is born.  By the way….NINE DAYS TO GO for new baby to come!

Joni: I asked Rowen, my oldest, on her ninth birthday what she wanted to do. She asked “Can we go to a water park Mommy?” What a great idea! I couldn’t have thought of a better one myself since it’s been real hot here. I knew that we couldn’t afford to pay for one for all of us since we’re a lot of people, so the Lord would have to do a miracle. I called a couple of water parks and I spoke with the owner of one who told me that he’d be happy to help, just that he could only help in a couple of weeks seeing that it was Semana Santa, which is a time of vacation here and his water park would be full. So we waited, praying that it would work out and that he wasn’t ‘putting me off.’ They’re so polite here, that they don’t like to say “no” straight out (although sometimes I wish they would ) and you often hear…um…other ways of saying no, although you’re not sure if it’s a no or not…anyway. This turned out to be a definite YES. Bless his heart for his generous giving of free tickets for our whole home to enjoy the water park for the day. We sure had fun! Jesus is so good to us, supplying not only our needs, but our wants as well! And what a sweet man to be so willing to help us. Here are some pictures from that special day.

This week our market friends donated so much papaya that after eating, drinking and preserving it in all the traditional ways we found ourselves putting papaya into the chicken sauce. That’s right, we ate papaya-pineapple-chicken sauce. Don’t ask me how the idea came up. It wouldn’t have occurred to me in a million years. It was certainly a new experience and one to tell the grandkids… although maybe some of you on the other side of the world eat stuff like that all the time. You know in Colombia they eat “big-bottomed ants”?

That bowl of chicken got me thinking that for going into all the world it’s handy to have a strong sense of culinary adventure. Gotta try it all! …at least once.

Congratulations David and Aurora on your new baby boy! The little guy looks just like his father (who happens to be my brother) and is such a little ducky! I guess with 20 days to my due date I can’t help but wonder whether mine will be a boy or a girl, (here is it illegal to let you know the sex of the baby) what it will look like, etc etc. It just amazes me how kids have such a definite character from the time they are born. It’s so easy to just look at them like babies or toddlers, but really they are little people with their own ideas, attitudes, likes and dislikes etc.

Well, keep my delivery in your prayers………..I sure feel like I need it. And will post some pics up when the baby is born.

Something happened this week that is possibly the most exciting thing for me in my history of being in the Family: one of my friends (whom I met this year) just joined the Home and moved in as a new disciple!!! I know that the life he has chosen will be one he’ll never regret, and that being a missionary, serving the Lord, is the best vocation anyone could ask for. Having another disciple, and not just “friend”, but brother in the Lord, and soldier in God’s army is something the angels are having a party up in Heaven about for sure! After everything that has happened these last couple of months, and seeing God work in someone’s life in amazing and miraculous ways, eventually leading them to give their life for Him and be a missionary in the Family, gives me the faith for the future–a wonderful, inspiring future, with many more disciples and fellow laborers. “The harvest is plenteous, but the laborers are few…” –Will you help us search them out???

Anisa has been part of our home here for about 2 years now, and has always been a tremendous help and asset. Well, it looks like its time for her to move and God is calling her on to bigger and better things. Well, at least bigger and better for her. I was praying today that the Lord would do something special for her, or that He would supply an outing that she would enjoy. Today we were visiting one of our friends who is the GM of a five star hotel here and after showing him the Activated mag explained a bit about Anisa and the need to have a goodbye party of sorts. He agreed to give a dinner out for our home! So Saturday is the day and the goodbye party is on! Will miss you Annie!
